  my cat had this on the sidewalk playing with it!

  he bit the tip of his tail off but my son and i were able to rescue him and turned him loose at our pond.

  he seemed fine.... swalker.

  SWALKER - that's what the buggers looked like, one was a juvenile which are more aggressive than the adults. We have seen tiger snakes before and they generally just carry on about their business so long as you make lots of noise and do not try and catch them.

  There are loads of them in and around Perth, especially in wet areas arouns lakes and rivers; apparently they quite like eating frogs.

  There have been a number of fatal bitings in Perth as more land is cleared for housing developments, moving the wildlife out of their natural habitats and into closer proximity with humans. I'll have to get a harness and lead for our cats, they normally bring us birds and mice but I reckon they would give a snake a good run for it's money

  gun control laws don't stop this kind of determined killer anywhere in the world.

  the defenseless victims couldn't carry a gun legally on campus if they had one.

  VA Tech Incident - Stupid Things People Say

  watching all the pundits on tv after the killings at va tech yesterday, there were a handful of things that kept getting repeated that are just stupid.

  usually they also require an impossible level of hindsight (which a good number of the pundits have, it seems).

  i've just got to rant about this for a few minutes.

  Even if the school campus would allow just the Professors to have a loaded weapon in a secure place, where an insane student could not have access to it, then at least the Professors could help protect their students. The Professors that were killed were only able to sheild their students with their own bodies!! If the Professors had a handgun, how many students do you think would have been killed? The number certainly would not have been as large as it was, one of them would have been able to take that idiot out!

  This is the sort of backward thinking the gun lobbyists want you to believe so they can sell you more fear and more guns. Where could it be kept so that a 'sane' student could get it and a crazy one couldn't? it's impractical and quite frankly bullshit. All you would do is make another gun available for some heart broken college student to blow his love rival away or some idiot to kill someone for the slightest annoyance.

  You need to look above the parapet and address the problems within your society, rather than allowing Fox news to sell you down the road of more fear and more antisocial behaviour.

  I went out for a walk with Mrs SLH at lunchtime and there is a lake just out the back of Ikea where she works. We were walking along the pavement (sidewalk) that goes around the wooded area on the edge of the lake and we saw two seperate tiger snakes within 50 metres of each other.

  What's more worrying is that at the time we were just discussing taking the bikes for a ride round the wooded track right on the edge of the lake at the weekend; we've decided to give that spot a miss until winter really kicks in and the snakes have decided to hibernate.

  you people will never learn. The whack job that just killed 32 people was able to get guns after a 10 minute background check and showing a couple of pieces of ID. If he was unable to get hold of guns so easily he would not have been able to kill 32 people!

  I am a sporting shooter and own a handgun, to get my handgun I had to be a member of a club for 6 months and get a licence. I then had a 28day cooling off period before I could actually pick my gun up, if you had such sensible gun licencing rules there is a much better chance that he would have been spotted as a nut before committing this atrocity.

  Government cannot, and should not even attempt to protect society from every possible ill situation; having said that there has to be some control on access to items which have no other function than to kill people. You can bullshit all you like about self protection but if this guy had not been able to get his hands on guns then the situation would not have arisen.

  One of the most stupid things I have heard is that if he had not been able to get guns then he could have killed just as many people with a bomb. Explosives and their ingredients are tightly controlled by law, and for good reason; why do you not accept the same restrictions on guns?

  Whilst Islam is certainly a religion that was established through conquest and violence, so was early Christianity. Christianity was spread by the Roman army through conquest and butchery just as much as Islam so to point the finger is a little disingenuous.

  The difference now is that Islam is a religion which spreads through poverty. It is a religion which is uncompromising and is taught for a large part by intolerant men who breed further intolerance by pointing to the economic injustices of the world and blaming them on Christians exploiting Muslims. Poor middle eastern countries where people are poorly educated and living on the breadline are fertile ground for religious extremists because it gives them social cohesion and someone to blame for their woes.

  The worlds ills are down to greed, not religion.

  she loves neckalces, handgabs and shoes so i've bought her loads of those.

  i'm looking for something a bit more imaginative and i am stacked out at work today so don't have the time to trawl the net for ideas.

  anybody not yet familiar with google earth should try it, www.earth.google.com - offers maps and satellite images for complex or pinpointed regional searches.

  recently google have added satellite shots of sudan, where a mass genocide is taking place whilst we go to bed each night in our safe and sound environments (relatively).

  up to 300,000 people dead so far - why the hell doesn't blair or bush do something about this seeing as though they are so beset with helping other people (bs)... .

  Yet again we have global politics being played by proxy in Africa and double standards abound. As in many other countries, the USA has armed guerillas who have then pursued their own agenda and Washington have condemned them once they have decided tonot toe the line.

  I find it ironic that some people should suggest boycotting the Beijing olympics due to China's human rights abuses when the USA is guilty of it's own abuses - Guantanamo Bay, forced rendition, secret CIA prisons in Eastern Europe. China's human rights abuses are terrible, and I am not suggesting that US abuses are as bad, but it does stink of double standards.

  Yet again we see childish posturing from the neocons, obviously anything is justified if it is "protecting America's interests".

  International politics is all about cause and effect, the US took Iranian diplomats/spies prisoner and Iran proceeds to take 15 UK personel prisoner. Until we all wake up to what our governemts are doing and hold them accountable, there will continue to be power hungry idiots starting wars to line their own pockets.

  It amazes me that despite all the money made by companies like Haliburton and the openess with which they have created slush funds for the republicans that Bush still has not been impeached

  tried it, she hates it. She's curvy so it's difficult to find a store that stocks lingerie in a size and cut that does the job properly.
